Brian and Ejuliano discuss how NFT-powered communities via the ownership of NFTs create a membership in a community. This membership then enables active participation in the decision-making process. In the case of Cherubs DAO, that means helping to choose grant opportunities for good causes.

Brian and the Tokel team also spoke about building the future of tokenization with Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs). DAOs allow for more flexible and democratic business structures that are bound to challenge the status quo.
Cherubs DAO
The Cherubs DAO is an NFT funded and governed social impact project with a mission to invest in accelerating solutions and research supporting Brain Health.
A Cherub NFT is a piece of digital art but also doubles up as a membership token. Owning a Cherub NFT gives you voting rights in the community and a say on investment & grant opportunities. In addition, you get to decide on the future of the Cherubs DAO project as a whole.
The way the project is set up is that every day a new Cherub NFT is created and then sold in an auction. The sales from this increase the Cherubs DAO treasury. The more people participate the stronger the power becomes to accelerate an impact on brain health.
What are NFTs?
A non-fungible token (NFT) is a form of digital information that is stored on a blockchain, and it cannot be changed or tampered with as it is protected via cryptography. NFTs can be held, sold and traded. Types of NFTs may be associated with digital files such as photos, videos, and audio but can also be part of any product that is unique (similarly to a barcode).
What is a DAO?
A decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) is an organization represented by rules encoded in a computer program that is transparent and protected by blockchain cryptography. A DAO is self-governed, controlled by the members of the organization members and not influenced by external actors. A form of member-owned communities without centralized leadership.
